Starting Friday is the romantic comedy Going the Distance, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Also opening are the comic book-style action film Machete, starring Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan and Michelle Rodriguez and the comedy Dinner for Schmucks. Returning to Laramie for a second run is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Albany County Public Library's Not Shown Before at a Theater Near You film series
Playing at the Albany County Public Library, Sunday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m. only, free admission and snacks. Sita Sings the Blues: The ancient story of the Ramayana is given new life by pairing it with a modern day romantic relationship, and some wise-cracking shadow figures who explain this seminal Hindu story to western audiences. This animated film by American artist Nina Paley is done to the soundtrack of 1920s American jazz singer Annette Hanshaw. The animation, done in several colorful styles, is as haunting and unusual as the soundtrack. This film won four international awards, including a Gotham Award for “Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You.” It is rated the best movie of 2010 by the critic aggregation site Metacritic.com. Antoinette DeNapoli, who teaches courses in Indian religions at the University of Wyoming, will be on hand to introduce this unique film. Not rated, 82 minutes.
