A Whoopi and Ted romantic comedy

May 31, 1993 -- ``Made in America'' is the Whoopi Goldberg, Ted Danson thing you've been hearing about. Whoopi and Ted have been getting a lot of free publicity out of their rumored romance since making the film together.

The story is that Whoopi's daughter finds out her father was a donor at a sperm bank. She finds out that Ted was her father, rather than a black man as her mother supposed. She confronts Ted, causing a commotion and eventually a romance between him and her mother.

The plot is a no-brainer, but the actors all do a good job and there are enough funny lines and good slapstick comedy stunts to make it work. This isn't a classic romantic comedy, but it's heart is in the right place and all the characters are appealing. It makes one feel warm and fuzzy. It rates a B.
