If you haven't seen the TV show, which has been airing for 19 years, then it's about time you watched this movie and ate a donut.
During church service Grandpa has a fit prophesying in cryptic terms everyone's doom. Lisa meets Colin, the new kid in town, who's Irish and like her an environmental enthusiast, though he isn't related to Bono. Homer takes a pig home, making it his new pet, and then pollutes the lake, resulting in the EPA's isolating Springfield under a giant dome. Bart decides that Flanders would be a better father than Homer.
After the Simpsons escape from Springfield and its irate residents, they move to Alaska, where Marge finally gets fed up with Homer's irresponsibility and leaves him, taking the kids with her back to Springfield. Homer must go on an odyssey and become a hero to save his family and his hometown. And remember, as Bart writes on the chalkboard: "I will not illegally download this movie."
