(2004) From the same people who produced Hot Fuzz - director Edgar Wright with screenplay by Wright and Simon Pegg - we have a sensational send up of zombie films, spilling over with humor, both bloody and funny.

In the Winchester Tavern in London with their friends David (Dylan Moran) and Dianne (Lucy Davis), Liz (Kate Ashfield) complains to her boyfriend Shaun (Simon Pegg) about their always hanging out in the same pub with the same people, drinking and wasting their lives away. He promises to escort her elsewhere and treat her to a more fascinating life.

Shaun, a salesman in an electronics shop, lives in a house with his chum, Ed (Nick Frost), a lazy layabout, and Peter, who refers to Ed as "more of a loser than you are." After Shaun fails to fulfill his promise to Liz of making a reservation at the restaurant (calling too late for a table), Liz dumps him for being unreliable.

On Sunday morning Shaun, hung over, at first fails to notice that people are acting strangely, dropping dead and chewing on each other. Ed points out a woman in the backyard, whom they think is drunk, only to realize when they push her away, causing her to fall backward onto an upright umbrella pole, impaling her, that she's a zombie.

Hearing a TV newscaster report that removing the head or destroying the brains is the only way to stop the creatures, Shaun and Ed sort through a collection of LP (arguing over which ones to use) for hurling at their assailants. Shaun finds Peter, who'd been bitten on his way home, upstairs behind the shower curtain, transformed into one of the undead.

Taking Peter's car, Shaun wielding a cricket bat and Ed a shovel, they tear off to rescue Shaun's mother, Barbara (Penelope Wilton), and stepdad, Philip (Bill Nighy), followed by Liz, David, and Di. Minus Philip, they reach their destination (Shaun's idea), the Winchester, where they fight among themselves and against the invasion of the living dead.
