Risky Business – (1983) This romantic teen comedy begins with a wet-dream sequence and music by Tangerine Dream before becoming unreal. Tom Cruise’s first feature-film appearance as Joel Goodsen, a high-school senior in Chicago hoping against the odds of getting into Princeton. When his parents leave him alone at home for a vacation, Joel joyrides with his friend Miles in his father’s Porsche, gets involved with Lana (Rebecca De Mornay), a call girl, and puts his father’s car into Lake Michigan, after which Lana introduces the future entrepreneur to the business of “personal fulfillment.” (In the ‘80s and before, Porsche was pronounced [por’-sha], as Cruise says it. So when and why did Porsche become [porsh]?)
