Bill Maher: New Rules – a collection from Maher’s 2003 to 2006 HBO programs, Real Time with Bill Maher (on PBS’s Politically Incorrect he could not have employed such language) in which he takes on pop culture, religion, and politics, establishing new rules for America: people in movie theaters who have cell phones must set their devices to vibrate and then shove them up their ass; same-sex couples are married people having the same sex together; the Catholic Church should allow gays to become nuns; and other guidelines for stupid people who do stupid things. In one of the editorials (see special features) he points out that teenagers who pledge to remain virgins until they get married get STDs just as frequently as their peers who didn’t pledge and engage in oral and anal sex far more often. Maher goes after George W. Bush, calling him a disaster as president, a category five hurricane, and urges Dick Cheney to remain in seclusion, comparing the VP to the creature in the cradle in Rosemary’s Baby. Much of the material is dated but still hilarious.
