Hearts in Atlantis – (2001) An adaptation of Stephen King’s short story about Ted Brautigan (Anthony Hopkins), an elderly gentleman with psychic powers who comes to the Bridgeport, Connecticut, home of eleven-year-old Bobby Garfield and his widowed mother in 1960. In his brief friendship with Bobby, he passes along a sense of wonderment and awakening to the future before he disappears into the hands of his dark pursuers. A promising beginning turns into a disappointing development with a sappy conclusion.
