[Strip of film rule]

Japanese (English dubbing) series of episodes based on Shirow Masamune's manga depicted in 3D animation of a futuristic state in 2024 with Section Nine, an anti-crime unit, taking on terrorists and other threats.

Chief Aramaki's team of super-agents is led by Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg with superhuman abilities (in one scene she borrows the vision of a robot maid's eyes) in a gorgeous female body. Togusa, Batou, Paz, Borma, and blue crablike robots go after Nanao (aka Laughing Man), a terrorist whose m.o. involves hacking computers and thoughts with his cyberbrain virus to set an alternative reality into motion; Marcelo Jarti, a revolutionary hero from South America who has become immortal through replications of his person created via a ghost-dubbing device; and a blackmarket dealing in artificial body organs.
