Capote – remarkable performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote during the more than five conflicted years he spent researching, with Harper Lee (during which time her novel To Kill a Mockingbird was published to wide acclaim), writing his bold nonfiction novel In Cold Blood, providing legal assistance for appeals while manipulating Perry Smith into finally telling about the night of the murders, and waiting for the two murderers to be executed by hanging in Kansas. Also recommended is the film based on the book, In Cold Blood, with Robert Blake as Perry Smith.
