American Dreamz – I’ve only watched American Idol twice, but that was enough to recognize that this movie is based on the TV show’s popularity. An edgy comedy with a terrorist: American Dreamz host, Martin Tweedy (Hugh Grant), will be joined by the President of the United States, Joe Staton (Dennis Quaid), who wonders if he’s a “placebo president” – an obvious parody of George W. Bush, for judging the vocal finalists: Sally Kendoo (Mandy Moore), an ambitious girl from Ohio, whose boyfriend after being wounded in Iraq just after she dumped him plans to propose marriage in front of the cameras, and a poorly trained Arab terrorist Omer, who sings Broadway songs, coerced into becoming a suicide bomber.
