11:14 – (2003) At 11:14 p.m. in Middleton police officer Hannagan has his hands full as five events take place almost simultaneously. Jack (Henry Thomas) answers his cell phone as he’s driving into town, passing beneath an overpass, when his car strikes a man. Three teenagers are joy riding, hurling objects out the window, when one decides to urinate out the window of the van, distracting the driver, resulting in the vehicle running over a pedestrian. Duffy (Shawn Hatosy) goes into Lloyd’s convenience store, where he works, needing $500 for his girlfriend Cheri (Rachel Leigh Cook) to get an abortion, but the clerk on duty, Buzzy (Hilary Swank), at first resists his plan to stage a hold up. Out walking his dog, Frank (Patrick Swayze) finds a dead body in the cemetery and puts it into the trunk of his car. In this dark comedy the interweaving of stories and relationships among the characters was a predecessor of Crash. A reviewer counted 57 instances of someone saying “fuck.” All of these characters are fucked up.
